ASFHRYYBGBT I WAS RIGHT THIS is PERFECT!!! You’re so good at explaining ahhhh let this be the perfect pamphlet of EnJa. Ah, about Kouen’s personality we share a lot of thoughts, especially if compared to Sin! I think I wrote something about it once..
It’s mostly because Kouen’s behaviour in the last episodes proves he’s more reserved than Sinbad and he’s not a good politician. Yes, he’s a great strategist and yes, he’s very powerful, but he doesn’t scheme as Sinbad, he doesn’t dodge the blow but he receives it and answers it, we saw it by his reaction when the wife of the Emperor takes the lead of the Empire and Kouen just waits.
And he seems to be like this in every aspect of his life if his relationship with Kouha and Koumei can say. So, in the matters of love, not much different from the politics, Kouen is a bit rusty; yes, he can charm people with his leadership skills but I don’t think he would do it. With love one wants to show off to catch their attention, much like politics, but Kouen prefers a more personal, private and frontal pursuing… adjusting -ironically- to my own headcanons of Ja’far.
I don’t believe Ja’far likes to be worked up to trust someone, he’s more like “Just tell me what you want, what you want me to do and how that benefits you and I’ll think if I’m going to actually speak with you”. As a parliamentary secretary he’s bound to dance in the sea of lies politics are, but when one sees him in the few panels he actually faces personal choices, he’s also very frontal.
So yeah, I can see a diplomatic meeting between Sindria and the Kou Empire while Sinbad is exposing and everyone seems charmed by his words and voice, then Kouen intervenes and they got into a political fight while they keep discussing.
Ironically, who stops them is Ja’far by practically knocking them off when he speaks to them like they were children and offers another view of the problem. Kouen would be surprise because someone actually made him shut up with good arguments and he sees the otherwise invisible clerk in a new light.
A light that bothers Sinbad to no end and Ja’far doesn’t notice until it’s too late.
PLEASE KEEP FEEDING ME WITH ALL THESE DELICIOUS HEADCANONS
